About Us

The iOntoBioethics Research Group

This is a group of researchers of multidisciplinary backgrounds in healthcare, informatics, bioethics, biomedical, pharmaceutical sciences, etc that have a mission of developing a Global Bioethics Ontology Forum and Open Research Platform for sharing and semi-automatically resolving semantic heterogeneities of bioethics policies, regulations, legislations, e-consenting, standards, diverse languages and cultures.

The iOntoBioethics Framework

The iOntoBioethics framework is an agile, semi-automatically generated, literature-based, and domain experts validated General Bioethics and Bioethics Pandemic Ontologies Operable in COVID-19 context with readiness for automatic governance of bioethics processes. These ontologies are openly and automatically enriched as the iOntoBioethics framework is being evolved as an open source platform for scientific, healthcare and ethics communities. iOntoBioethics not only it contribute to better understanding of bioethics processes, but also serves as a bridge linking these processes to healthcare systems.  With a big data analytics platform, the iOntoBioethics  framework has the potential to automatically inform bioethics governance adherence given the plethora of developing bioethics knowledge. The iOntoBioethics framework contributes towards setting the first building block for forming the field of “Bioethics Informatics”.

The iOntoBioethics COVID-19 Ontology

Our original iOntoBioethics Ontology, as the first enriched general bioethics ontology and agile-developed based on a profile of evolving authenticated and indexed literature, has been extended to develop the first COVID-19 Ontology.

COVID-19 ontological concepts have been automatically inferred through designated recently published COVID-19 literature using the iOntoBioethics text mining and machine learning engine which automatically generates and generalizes COVID-19 topics and their associated concepts. These have been integrated to form the first semi-automatically generated, text-mined and machine learned Bioethics COVID-19 ontology using an agile process is periodically re-instantiated for the evolution of the  iOntoBioethics ontology as per the emergence of new bioethics and COVID-19 authenticated knowledge and impactful research outcomes.

Knowledge Exchange: Regular Research Seminars and Meetings

The iOntoBioethics research group aims to organize regular seminars and research group meetings with invited guest speakers engage, bioethics researchers, IRBs of healthcare organizations, international research institutions and groups engaging in bioethics research and development, and industrial organizations involved in bioethics products.
